Music Direction
Live music…
Live Experiences
Arranging and directing music is a skill I have been fortunate enough to both study formally (through a music undergraduate degree and a master’s degree in composition), and hone through years of experience and countless bands, touring internationally.
As a music director, my philosophy is that audiences do not just want to come and hear an artist play their songs. For me, there is not much value in a gig that merely recreates a series of records verbatim, and as a musical director I see my role as working with the artist and band to construct a cohesive, memorable and unique event.
The process of organising a group of musicians, their parts, arranging and rehearsing, is a road I've walked many times. This includes working software and hardware for backing tracks and clicks, and working with individual sections such as string quartets and brass sections.
